HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the ‘Khor Dubai’ cultural project, an initiative that will celebrate Dubai’s multicultural diversity and showcase the emirate’s rich past, dynamic present and its pulsating future. The Khor Dubai cultural project stretching over 20 km launched and will commence at Shindagha, Dubai’s oldest neighborhood at the mouth of Dubai Creek, and stretch to Business Bay, Dubai’s newest commercial district.
HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said, “Today, we have come together to launch the ‘Khor Dubai’ cultural project in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015. The initiative will draw its roots from our heritage and history and embrace our present to build the future, taking our country to new horizons of prosperity and development for further gaining international status”.
The ‘Khor Dubai’ cultural project will raise Dubai’s cultural offering by creating over 10 thematic museums, starting with the Messenger Mohammed Museum, and museums of culture and heritage and contemporary arts and science. It will also include 9 public libraries dedicated to poetry and music and literature. The Creek will be dotted with 14 theatres, one opera house, 11 galleries, 7 cultural and arts institutes and workshops for local and foreign artists as well as residents.
