Dubai Metro achieves another milestone with the completion of the underground tunnel boring work on the Green Line. The 729 m long tunnel that runs from the Union Square underground station to Salahuddin Road on the Green Line of the Dubai Metro is complete.
Adnan Al Hammadi, Director of Construction, Rail Agency, said, "The TBM has excavated the tunnel between Union Square and Salahuddin Road 60 days in advance and it is another milestone for us".
The Dubai Metro project will be completed in two phases. The first phase will be the construction of the Red Line, which will run along the Sheikh Zayed Road on a viaduct. The second phase will deliver the Green Line that will be built mostly underground. The Red Line (Phase I) is marked for completion in September 2009 while the Green Line (Phase II) is scheduled to be completed in March 2010.
