Elyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, developer of the Dh22 billion ($6 billion) City of Arabia, the themed metropolis at Dubailand, has awarded a Dh235m contract for a road project to a joint venture between Gulf Leighton LLC and Kier Dubai LLC. The joint venture would be responsible for the construction of 15km of roads in and around the development, 5 bridges, and underground services including drains, sewers, water mains and telecommunications.
Gulf Leighton LLC is an affiliate of Leighton Asia (Southern), which is itself a subsidiary of Australia’s Leighton Contractors. Work will begin shortly and the project is scheduled for completion by August 2008.
City of Arabia at Dubailand is a massive tourism development that has already garnered Dh65 billion in investments. The projects will also accommodate the Mall of Arabia, set to be the largest shopping mall in the world with 1, 200 retail outlets.
