An unprecedented land development spanning 81 million square
metres; ‘Dubai Waterfront' is bigger than Manhattan
or Beirut. This
master project, expected to extend Dubai's
coastline by 820 kilometres, is slated to be the largest waterfront development
in the world. ‘Dubai Waterfront' has, as one of its key components, ‘Madinat Al
Arab' that is anchored by ‘Al Burj', one of the world's tallest skyscrapers.
The planners of this mammoth project aim to "create a
world-class destination for residents, visitors and businesses in the world's
fastest growing city." ‘Dubai Waterfront' is carved into myriad zones with
mixed-use, commercial, residential, resort and amenity areas.
Location
‘Dubai Waterfront' is located on Dubai's
last remaining surfing reef, the only point-break in United Arab Emirates. It features the
75-kilometre long ‘Arabian
Canal' that will run
inland from the coast, in addition to a major harbor. The dockage provides
direct sea access for trade and entertainment. When complete, this seafront
project will have over 100 different waterfront developments and 150 master-planned
communities.
‘Dubai Waterfront' encompasses 440 square kilometres of
water and land projects, an area 7 times the size of Manhattan, USA.
Adjacent to ‘Dubai World Central
International Airport',
with full access to Sheikh Zayed
Road, ‘Jebel Ali Free Zone' and Abu Dhabi, "this city by the sea" will be
home to 400,000 people.

‘Dubai Waterfront' consists of 10 key zones including ‘Madinat
Al Arab' that is expected to become the new downtown and central business
district of Dubai. The prime zones of this master development are:
