 Palm Deira

The Palm Deira property in Dubai was announced for development in October 2004

Work on Palm Deira property is ongoing as planned, Nakheel real estate issued a statement, refuting media reports. The currently focus is being directed at reclamation works in areas closest to the shore. Once this is complete we will start progressive land sales and development. This is in line with Nakheel's business model, and is a very responsible approach in line with current global economic conditions, the statement said further.

The Palm Deira was announced for development in October 2004. This island is 8 times larger than the Palm Jumeirah, and 5 times larger that the Palm Jebel Ali. The manmade archipelago measures 14 km in length from land to the tip of its crescent and 8.5 km in width from crescent to crescent. Its Fronds vary in length with a distance of 840 and 400 m of sea between them.

Palm Deira will be the largest man-made island in the world, covering 4250 hectares and adding 226 kilometres to the coastline of Dubai. It is a project that is vast in both ambition and scale.  More than 800 workers are currently on site reclaiming 200,000 cubic meters of sand, 45,000 tonnes of rock by sea and 20,000 tonnes of rock by land per day.
