The properties currently under construction in Dubai would be spared from the eco-friendly code |
All upcoming properties in Dubai from next year are required to follow the ‘Green' building guidelines set by the Dubai Municipality (DM) and non compliance would result in real estate plans being rejected, Issa Al Maidour, Assistant Director-General for Planning and Building Affairs, said.
Issa Al Maidour, Assistant Director-General for Planning and Building Affairs said: "All building plans coming to us from next year must comply with the code. Right now, we have certain regulations regarding the use of heat insulators in the buildings like insulated floors amid slabs. The Green building standards would have more stipulations."
An official of the Building Department said the existing or buildings under construction in Dubai would be exempted from this but real estate developers could go for some makeovers.
