Thomas Bjorn, Chairman of The European Tour Players Committee, hailed the real estate development at Jumeirah Golf Estates as ‘sensational' on a visit to view progress of the golf course for the first Dubai World Championship that will be played in November 2009. Bjorn was escorted around the Earth course, which was announced on Monday as the venue for the first event, by a team from Leisurecorp, the owners of Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Thomas Bjorn said, ""The players are really going to enjoy this Tournament.  Every sporting season should have a climax and that's what the Dubai World Championship will give us.  It's a finale which will mean all eyes focus on Dubai for a really exciting four days".

From 2009, The European Tour will come to a riveting climax at The Dubai World Championship, a $10,000,000 prize fund tournament hosted at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai. The Dubai World Championship will be open to the players numbered from 1 to 60 on The Race to Dubai, formerly known as The European Tour Order of Merit.
