Dh98 billion earmarked for development of Western Region in Abu Dhabi

Infrastructure, Tourism, Economic and Real Estate Development Plans are underway for Western Region of Abu Dhabi

The government of Abu Dhabi has allocated Dh98 billion for infrastructure, tourism, economic and real estate development of the Western Region of the UAE capital. Western Region Development Council (WRDC) has also announced to give a new name and brand identity to this region rich in hydrocarbon. The region extends over 60,000 sq km of area, i.e., 71% of the total land mass of the UAE.

The Western Region will now be known as Al Gharbia in both English and Arabic. It comprises 7 main cities, namely, Madinat Zayed, Mirfa, Liwa, Ghayathi, Sila, Ruwais and Dalma Island and is close to the borders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
