Power cuts have become very common in some residential properties in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah to construct four power plants in the next three years to end the present power cuts in the emirate, said Khater Massaad, an adviser to His Highness Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras al Khaimah.

Massaad who is also the chief executive of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), said that the Independent Power Corporation (IPC), a UK- based power developer is one of the companies expected to develop these power plants in Ras Al Khaimah that would help generate more power to supplement on the existing power sources in the emirate.

He stressed that these power plants, to be operational within three years having a total capacity of 740 megawatts, would help meet the emirate's short-term needs to reduce the increasing power woes caused by frequent outages in Ras Al Khaimah.
