Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron says Bahrain is on the right track with its reforms.

And he hailed steps being taken to implement recommendations by the Bahrain Independent Commission (BICI) of Inquiry, as the right ones.

His Majesty King Hamad received a letter from Mr Cameron in which he also lauded the fruitful results of the King's visit to the UK last December, and its positive impact on solid, historical Bahrain-UK ties.

Mr Cameron highlighted steps taken by the kingdom to implement the BICI's recommendations, including hiring international legal, security and human rights experts. He also praised the kingdom's memorandum of understanding with the Red Cross, which he considered a "positive" step that will boost reforms.

He expressed the UK's keenness to support Bahrain's steps to achieve prosperity and stability.

The UK Premier expressed hope that he will visit Bahrain following His Majesty's invitation, wishing that bilateral political and economic co-operation will grow further this year.

Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa yesterday received a written message from his Italian counterpart Giulio Terzi di Sant'agata, in which he lauded the establishment of the BICI, acceptance of its final report and commitment to implement recommendations through the National Commission.

He described them as "important steps" that represent a major step towards national reconciliation.
