Sailing is excellent, and yachting is one of the best ways to explore the islands. Yacht chartering is easily arranged with yachts that can be hired locally, with or without crew. Two ferries make frequent sailings to Bequia with an hours travelling time. |
Yacht races include the Bequia Easter Regatta, in which there are races for all sizes and types of craft, even coconut boats chased by their swimming child owners or model sailing yachts chased by rowing boats.
There are other contests on shore and the nights are filled with events such as dancing, beauty shows and fashion shows. The centre of activities is the Frangipani Hotel, which fronts directly on to Admiralty Bay.

The Canouan Yacht Race is in August. These are a major pastime. Various sailing boats head south regularly through the Grenadines. For the novice, professionals are available to handle the sails. |
