Enjoy horse-riding in Ireland

Ireland has long been known as The Land of the Horse. You can experience this tradition, as well as enjoy a variety of beautiful scenery, good food, hospitality and fun, if you choose to take an equestrian holiday in Ireland.

There are programmes for all ages and abilities from show jumping, cross-country riding and dressage, to hacking and trail riding through magnificent mountain, coastal and forest scenery. All riding centres are approved by AIRE, the Association of Irish Riding Establishments.

AIRE's members offer a wide choice of riding facilities catering for every rider, whether novice or experienced regardless of age. Most stables have ponies or horses available for trekking and riding out over unspoilt countryside, rugged mountains and forest trails, or along quiet sandy beaches. All members of AIRE are inspected form time to time in order to maintain the highest standards of quality and service.

Horse Riding Ireland
Horse Riding Ireland was established in 1989, when three riding centres from different regions of the country decided to engage in group marketing internationally. The centres are located in the Counties Galway, Sligo and Kerry with each destination offering diverse equestrian activities.

A large variety of horses and ponies, carefully selected to suit each and every customer's ability, are to be found at each stable. Among them the famous Irish Draught, Irish Hunter and Connemara breeds, along with half breds and thoroughbreds. The three riding centres are:

Trail Riding
A very popular form of Irish equestrian holiday is trail riding. Most trail rides offer a good balance of beach, mountain and forest riding and the organizers try to introduce you to the special features of the area.

Our scenery varies greatly from county to county - from breathtaking beauty of the Wicklow Hills or Sperrin Mountains to the deserted beaches of the west and north Antrim coast, the picture changes every few miles - and a truly remarkable way of appreciating Ireland is on horseback.

Some Trail Rides take adult beginners but, whether you are an old hand or a complete novice, you will appreciate your comfortable accommodation as you rest your delightfully weary body after recalling the day's adventures while enjoying excellent Irish food with your fellow-travellers.
