The western coast has several beaches such as Ottley Hall, Mount Wynne and Kearton's Bay against a backdrop of series of spectacular slopes and valleys. The eastern coast is different from the Leeward side with the roaring sounds of the Atlantic waves that crash against the rugged cliffs and beaches formed by volcanic lava. The refreshing trade winds blow here constantly. |
Friendship Bay, on the southern coast of Bequia island, has a golden-sand beach and offers good swimming and windsurfing and proves ideal for the tourists to this island. The Anthneal's Private Petite Museum in Friendship Bay has some remnant from Bequia’s whaling past.

The protected Richmond Beach, east of Big Sand, provides a good opportunity for swimming. The Richmond Beach is a 25-minute walk northwest from Clifton, the port of Union Island, while the Big Sand Beach lies further east.
