Sightseeing in Jamaica

Jamaica is a beautiful Caribbean country. Sightseeing in Jamaica is an exciting experience. Here is a list of some of the most interesting and exciting sightseeing places in Jamaica to visit;

1: Rose Hall Great House

The Rose Hall Great house gives an experience of the complete spectrum of island living - mountain villages, canfields, luxury villas, resort hotels and condominiums. Anne Palmer reigned as the mistress of the 200-year-old Rose Hall Great House.  Cursed by slaves as a "White witch", Anne turned a magnificent plantation into a hell-house of atrocities.  Countless slaves fell prey to her torture, while all three of her husbands met death at her hands.

2: Shaw Park Botanical Gardens

Shaw Park Botanical Gardens is located on top of one of the tallest hills directly across from the harbor. This park is filled with beautiful pools, waterfalls, flowers, shrubs and trees. A river cascades throughout the 25 acre park of tropical splendor.

3: Dunn's River Falls

This waterfall cascades 600 feet over smooth rock directly to the beach. Many tourists take on the challenge of climbing to the top using the huge boulders as steps.

4: Blue Mountains

Best known as the source of Blue Mountain coffee, these mountains rising out of the lush jungle north of Kingston are a favorite destination with adventure travelers, hikers, and birders as well as anyone looking to see what lies beyond the beach.

5: Cockpit Country

The Cockpit Country is a unique and isolated area lying to the south of Falmouth and to the southwest of Montego Bay. The area has an abundance of a series of high limestone rock formations. This area also encompasses the erstwhile colony of the Maroons, Maroon Town, and the present headquarters of the Maroons living in the Cockpit Country area.

6: Martha Brae River

The Martha Brae River, a gentle waterway about 25 mile (40 km) southeast of Montego Bay, takes its name from an Arawak Indian who killed herself because she refused to reveal the whereabouts of a local gold mine to the Spanish. According to legend, she agreed to take them there and, on reaching the river, used magic to change its course, drowning herself and the greedy Spaniards with her.
