Sea & Learn on Saba

Sea & Learn on Saba is a non-profit foundation that brings together the local community, diverse nature experts and visitors to understand the value of nature, both worldwide and locally on Saba. Sea & Learn's objective is to reinforce the importance of protecting nature. Sea & Learn is a month long event which will start on October 1st and continue for the whole month with lot of informative and exciting programmes.


and educate the potential safe-keepers in order to sustain viability of Saba's eco-tourism product and other environments throughout the world.'Enhance Your Environmental Awareness' is the slogan of this international award-winning month long celebration of nature. 2007 marks the 5th annual event which brings in naturalists and scientists from all over the world for night time presentations and hands on field projects. All events are open to the public and free of charge. 

Sea & Learn on Saba is governed by a board that produces an annual report with full accounting of income and expenses, audited by an independent accountant.  


The "target group" of Sea & Learn is the local Saba community consisting of Saba citizens, adults and children, local businesses and visiting tourists.Whether your mission is to find out which tropical plant can be made in to a calming tea, how far a baby turtle swims to reach Saba or to simply have another reason to visit this special island, join the fun of Sea & Learn on Saba. 

 


A sneak preview of just some of the topics include West Indian snakes, seahorses, parrots, whale sharks, orchids, bioluminescence, orchids, chemical ecology on the reef and a presentation about The Saba Bank project

And, mark your calendar for the weekend of October 12-14, 2007.  The weekend commends the 20-year anniversary of the Saba Conservation Foundation.  In cooperation with Sea & Learn, the SCF will provide a gala event for the community with special kids programs at the Fort Bay harbor, cleanup projects, a film night, awards and more.  A highlight of the weekend will be a historical review presented by Tom van t'Hof, one of instrumental players in the setup and first 10 years of the park.
