There are around 37 different beaches on the island with St. Martin having quiet, secluded and more relaxed beaches. Many of the hotels have their own stretch of beach but the ones isolated ones are more promising, especially worth exploring. |
Some of these are set against dramatic landscapes and rugged cliffs while others are shaded and lined with green palm trees. The beach at Grand Case is alive with local culture and like the Anse Marcel tends to be a favorite with families.
Orient Bay is particularly enticing for its wide expanse of velvety white sand and its underwater marine reserve with a coral reef that is great for snorkeling. A variety of water sports are also offered here. A naturist resort and the beach at one end have purely optional clothing. Usually, topless bathing is fairly accepted and attitude towards the same is quite relaxed and sophisticated.

Baie Rouge
This beach has plenty of white powder and is dotted with assorted boulders. The crystal clear waters off the coast offer excellent swimming conditions. This beach is quite secluded and is a rewarding intimate hideaway. The beach is particularly beautiful early in the morning. Facilities include provision for watersports, change facilities and a local drink stand that serves cool refreshments.
