Places to visit in Cook Islands

Suwarrow National Park
Suwarrow Island is the southernmost atoll of the Northern Cooks. This island remains one of the most important sea-bird breeding areas in the South Pacific. The Suwarrow lagoon is dotted with numerous large coral-knolls that are exposed at low tide. There are several types of amazing coral, molluscs and echinoderms found in the waters here.

Raemaru
Raemaru is a mountain with a flat-top and is quite easy to spot. Located in Arorangi, this peak was held to be the tallest mountain on Rarotonga according to ancient legends, until one night some giant Aitutakians cut it in half and took the top back to Aitutaki.

Boiler
Just outside the reef at Trader Jacks is a boiler, which are the remains of the Matai.

Takamoa Mission House

This structure was originally built as a school in 1842 by the London Missionary Society, It is believed to be the second oldest building in the South Pacific.

Arai-Te-Tonga (Koutu)

Arai-Te-Tonga (Koutu) is one of the most sacred places on the island. In the former days, prior to the arrival of Europeans, these stone structures formed a koutu or royal court. The investiture of high chiefs took place here amidst much splendour.
