A wealth of information about the Isle of Man, its people, their life, culture and heritage can be found in the Museums.

Some of the most important museums are:

Grove House and Gardens

Grove House throws light on the Victorian home frozen in time. Grove House offers a rare chance to view a home built and furnished in the mid 1800's. Many of the main rooms still hold onto a way of life, now long gone. The museum has a section set out with replica toys of the period for the children of today to play with.

Nautical Museum

Depicts the connection the island has with the sea. The first part of the museum is mainly based on walking around, reading signs and looking at exhibits. The second part of the museum is more of a guided tour and begins at the boat house. A guide will take you around from that point onwards and tells the history of the classic ship. visitors are shown hidden cupboards, secret passages, treasonous plans, evidence of smuggling as well.

The Tynwald Museum

The Tynwald Museum is small, but marks the history of Tynwald Hill and the long traditions. There is something for all ages inside this large and well presented national museum.

Manx Military and Aviation Museum

A fine effort to keep the history of the island's aviation past alive and viewable by the public. The exhibition rooms are well planned out, based on themes from different points in aviation history. Photographs line the walls and cabinets are filled with relics from the past. There are quite a few items, from plane parts to uniforms, which are set out to be viewed. The miniature aeroplanes are impressive and well worth a closer look

House of Manannan

An excellent Museum for all ages. There are many interactive sections, which offer amusement for young or old. It is truly a fun way to view the past and present history of the Isle of Man.

Leece Museum

A bright little museum set on the Quay of Peel Harbour. There are many exhibits mostly about the local Peel area, though some extend island wide.

Manx Transportation Museum

This is a very inspiring museum. The building was once falling down and now stands proud, housing many models, photos, exhibits, and collectibles from different forms of transport around the island. There are many forms of transport within this museum which are not well known and rather obscure. It is a place to uncover more about the island and its transport history, which includes much more than railways and buses.
