Museums in Anguilla

The museums in Anguilla are the best way to learn about Anguillian history and culture. Here's a list of some of the most interesting museums in Anguilla;


1: Anguilla Natural Trust Museum
Located in capital town The Valley, this is one of the most interesting, educative and knowledgeable museum of the island.  The museum displays the island’s most remarkable natural, archeological and historical artifacts. It also displays current on-island conservation projects.

2: Heritage Museum
Heritage Museum in the South Hill Plaza, display artifacts from the history of Arawak Indians till today’s political campaign materials that make the museum collection  unique and interesting. Curator Colville Petty OBE is an authority of Anguilla's history. It also exhibits island’s most exclusive documents, photographs, letters and other items.

3: The Manse Building 

Newly refurbished, in the early 1900’s the “Manse” was a house owned by an Anguillian planter and businessman. In 1910 - 1962, the house remains the sole property of the Methodist Church and Priest and family. But, today the building has been completely refurbished and is a home of a unique Caribbean gift shop and a Re/Max real estate agency.

4: The Old Valley Tour 

The Old Valley is located on the road to Crocus Hill, and is a destination of Anguilla’s more preserved historical buildings that include Ebenezer’s Methodist Church, the oldest church of the island. The tour preview an insight to Anguilla’s past and present building structure and architecture.   Some of the most exquisite instances of historic architecture are The Warden’s Place, Miss Marjorie’s House, Rose Cottage, etc.  For meeting and discussions you can fix up an appointment.

5: Old Salt Factory and Pumphouse 

Situated at Sandy Ground, this is Old Salt Factory and Pumphouse is an evidence of islands history.  In the past Anguilla history, Salt played eminent role, this factory previews the working system and the importance of the pond in Pumphouse.  For getting here you have to fix up an appointment before, the tour is only given on Thursdays.

6: Wallblake House

Wallblake House is Anguilla’s only remaining plantation house which depict the history of Plantation economy and colonial architecture. You will be explained by the guide. For reaching here you need to call up at Ferryboat Inn and fix up the appointment in advance.

7: Sydney’s Antique Museum
 
Located on Main Road, George Hill, this antique Museum highlights Islands’ living home style in ancient times. During some occasions visitors can take pleasure of traditional Anguillan dishes and bush tea prepared with a year old recipe.
