Flower Forest is at once tranquil but alive with the energy of living plant life. The sound of raucous birds or the chattering of the green monkey, which inhabit Flower Forest and the surrounding area, only occasionally disturb the tranquility. Located on Highway 2, the Flower Forest is situated in the 'Scotland District' of Barbados and offers spectacular scenery and a sweeping, awe-inspiring view of the rugged East Coast! |
This 50 acre attraction offers an explosion of greenery and commanding vistas of the island's stunning Scotland District.
The fifty acres that is Flower Forest and beyond, is a sight to behold as you stand under the gazebo (this is also a favorite spot for weddings.) Or, you may round the next curve in the path and see the sun playing on the surrounding green of an open meadow.
It's a treat to meander among fragrant flowering bushes, canna and ginger lilies, puffball trees, and more than 100 other species of tropical flora in a cool, tranquil forest of flowers and other plants. A ½-mi-long (1-km-long) path winds through the 50 acres of grounds, a former sugar plantation; it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to follow the path, or you can wander freely for as long as you wish. Benches located throughout the forest give you a place to pause, sit down for a bit, and reflect. There's also a snack bar, a gift shop, and a beautiful view of Mt. Hillaby.
Visitors are permitted to stay as long as they wish in the flower forest along the self guided walk through the tropical forest. Benches are also available for those who wish to enjoy the tranquility of the atmosphere. Plenty of photo films are also available from the Barbados gift shop. Snack bar is available nearby wherein you could get from hot dogs to flying fish and chips.
The Flower Forest is open 7 days a week, from 9 am - 5 pm.
