There are several good beaches on the North Shore, in Tortola that provide ample opportunity and good waters for a nice swim or other water sports like diving and snorkeling. |
An unpaved road will bring you to a small sandy beach, Smugglers Cove. Located on the northern coast at the western tip of Tortola. The beach offers good snorkelling.
Long Bay is a lovely mile-long stretch of white sand beach. Numerous guesthouses and a hotel are lined along its eastern portion. The western end of the beach offers good swimming in a secluded ambiance.
Apple Bay, on the north coast, is “The Surfing Beach" of the island. A surfer's bar called Bomba's Shack here is quite popular, and a small community and hotel can also be found here.
The beach gently curves along The Cane Garden Bay, which is also a popular anchorage. It offers a variety of water sports, and has facilities like restaurants, bars and guesthouses.

There is a lush tropical bay, Brewer's Bay on the northern coast of the island. It has two beach bars, a campground and offers good snorkeling opportunities. |

Josiah's Bay, lying on the north shore near East End, has a spectacular beach.
Lambert Beach, popular as the Elizabeth Beach, can be reached from East End by a rough private road by preferably a four-wheel drive. It is a scenic and wide beach lined with palms trees. During the winters, when the north shore swells, the undertow here is quite strong. The Lambert Beach Resort is also located on this beach.
Virgin Gorda
The Baths has huge boulders that form a series of magnificent pools and grottoes. Nearby, the waters are excellent for swimming and the entire area is quite panoramic.
