St. John’s |
It has been developed for tourism purposes and is hub for shopping & dining with hotels, new boutiques, duty free shops & restaurants. The Anglican Cathedral in St.John’s has been damaged several times by earthquakes including the latest one in 1974. It has been replaced twice after and its magnificent, evocative, white baroque twin towers are visible from all over St.John’s. It has a wonderful cool interior lined with pitch pine timber.
Redcliffe Quay
Redcliffe is a picturesque area in St.John’s. These are the restored historical buildings now housing souvenir shops & the only toyshop in town.
English Harbour is Antigua’s graceful & evocative historic district, English Harbour is focused on the 15 sq miles of Nelson’s Dockyard National Park. Initially used for battle purposes, it is now the only Georgian dockyard in the world.
Palaster Reef in Barbuda is a marine reserve to preserve the reef & shipwrecks (around 60). Much wildlife can be spotted here. You can also explore the seas by swimming from beach to the reef.

Sea View farm village is the centre of cottage industry of folk pottery. Wares can be purchased at outlets in the village as well as from stores around the island. They are made from clay collected from nearby pits & are fired in an open fire under layers of green grass in yards of the potter’s house. |

Heritage Quay in St.John’s is a duty free shopping complex especially popular for cruise ship visitors and also houses a casino.
