Beaches of Aruba

Aruba stands out as having the best beaches, all of which are public & free. There are good, sandy beaches on both sides of the island although fewer on the east side which is rough and not so good for swimming.

Druif Beach starts at the Tamarijn Aruba Beach Resort, extending and widening along the coast to the sister hotel, the Divi Aruba, with good windsurfing.

At the Manchebo there is a huge expanse of sand. North of here is Eagle Beach where the hotels are separated from the beach by the road, and then Palm Beach where the major hotels open directly on to the beach. These three sandy beaches extend for several kilometres, and the water is calm, clear and safe for children. However, watch out for watersports and keep within markers wherever provided.

A residential area and the new golf course stretches up from Arashi to the lighthouse and the coast is indented with tiny rocky bays and sandy coves. The water is beautiful and good for snorkeling and is also shallow and thus safe for children. It is also a fishing ground for the brown pelicans. At night they normally sleep in the shallow water close to the lighthouse. Near the lighthouse is a spectacular place where high waves hit against the rocks at a small inlet. There is also a blowhole, where water sometimes spouts up more than 5 m.

Near Seroe Colorado, there are two west-facing beaches worth visiting. Rodgers Beach is protected by a reef and has a snack bar, showers, and yachts. The Baby Beach, on the other hand, is round the corner in a lovely sandy bay and is protected by the reef. Offers nice swimming and snorkeling, It remains very busy on Sunday. Facilities include toilets but the area has little shade.

Andicouri is another beach popular with surfers. It may not be approachable through the coconut grove since it is a private property, but there are signs to direct you the right way.

Sea Grape Grove and Boca Grandi, on the east coast of the southern tip are protected by a reef and are good for snorkeling and swimming.  The largest Elkhorn coral can also be seen here. It is quite popular with tourists and experienced windsurfers who come here for wave jumps.

Other beaches on the east side of the island are Boca Prins. Some of the interesting sand dunes are found here. Further north, in a hilly landscape is Dos Playa that can be reached by a poor road. The waters here are good for surfing. The beach is normally closed to vehicles because of nesting turtles.
