Hills of Cuba
The Sierra del Rosario forms part of the chain of Guaniguanico's mountains in Pinar del Río. El Pan de Guajaibón at a height of about 700m is the highest part of the mountains and is covered by a tropical wood that in some zones can reach 35m. 25000 Km of this area is deemed as a reserve fund by the UNESCO. These forests are thriving with an exciting variety of tropical flora and fauna. Several exotic and exclusive floral species can be found in these areas including a range of herbs, shrubs and woods.

The fauna is abundant and diverse with more than 50 species of birds such as Cuban nightingales and woodpeckers. The jungles are also home to several reptiles such as ophidia, saurians and the turtle (psedemys decussata) that live in the water bodies here and also the commonly found water lizard.

The Sierra Maestra Mountain Range, famous as the scene of one of the revolution's largest battles, hosts a variety of pleasant and beautiful mountain flowers like orchids and ancient ferns and other exotic floral species can also be seen in these areas. The area is blessed with waterfalls, swamps, diverse fauna that can all be explored while trekking or hiking around these picturesque regions.

Zapata is centrally located and is the largest humid soil region in Cuba and is abundant with a wide and amazing range of fauna. The area proves to be a delight for ecological study or observation. The area is also home to thousands of migratory birds that fly to Cuba from the northern winters during the end of each year. The western area of the island is a magnificent and huge reserve rich with rivers and forests.

The Valley of Viñales is one of the country's most attractive and fascinating areas abundant with a unique natural beauty. Located in the mountain range of Guaniguanico, it forms a part of the Sierra of the Organs. The terrain is rich with a variety of calcareous soils, slates, schist's and sandstones.
 
The valley is rich with dense tropical vegetation with the landscape covered with palms, caduceus leaved trees, woody bushes and some carnose plants. Several exotic native plants are also found in the density of these jungles such as the Ceibón (Bombax emarginatum), small sierra palm (Trinax microcarpa), the Caiman Oak (Tabebuia calcicola) and the Cuban fossil plant Cork Palm (Microcycas culocoma). This valley also has several enigmatic caves and exploring these is quite an adventure. Cave of the Indian, and the cave system of great caves Santo Tomás, one of the largest in Hispanic America, is particularly worth exploration.

The faunal variety is also amazing and quite abundant in these areas and includes a range of molluscs. The Cuban emerald, Cuban trogon, cartacuba, nightingale are the various birds that you will find here adding life and color to these forests.

The Soroa Valley is located in the centre of Cuba amongst rich fertile land and houses a spectacular waterfall. You can walk through the natural fountain to the rivers shore for a fresh water dip in the crystalline waters.
