Shopping in the Cayman Islands

Cayman Islands is a duty free destination, and you can save on things like China, watches, fine jewelry, including authentic coin jewelry and lot more.  Shopping in the Caymans is an exciting experience whether you are looking for beautiful local art and craft for your self or as a gift item, or the modern designer clothes to take away home, it has some thing for every one.


Black coral carvings and jewelers are widely available. Since the 1978 Cayman Islands Marine Conversation Law, that prohibited the removal of the coral from local waters, manufacturers turned to Belize and Honduras for their supply. Caymanite is a semi precious gem stone with layers of various colors found only in the Cayman Islands local craftspeople use it to make jewelry.

If you are a smoker then the Churchill’s Cigar Store is the place for you. The Cuban seed tobacco rolled and packaged in the Cayman Islands is the highlight of the place.


For the art enthusiasts stalls at the Rum Point, Grand Cayman, sell work by local artists and craftsmen. It is being run as a co-operative called Native Done Pure Art located at the South Church St and sells the work of over 100 local artist and craftsmen and women, paintings, prints, sculptures, crafts, rugs, wall hanging etc.


The National Trust House headquarters on Courts has a gift shop featuring locally made gifts, Cayman related books and trust materials, including posters of the red-footed booby and the endangered blue iguana.

Caribbean Charlie's in North side, near Rum Point, offers a wide assortment of tropical crafts with handmade, custom designed and signed work. At the Glassblowing Studio on the waterfront in George Town you can watch the artisans creating glassware and figurines for sale. On Cayman Brac NIM Things sells items made locally, including caymanite jewelry, straw bags and crochet. Joe Tourist is made in Cayman casual war and accessory line. Joe Tourist products are available only in the Cayman Islands.
