On Guadeloupe, there are a large number of restaurants, cafés and patisseries to choose from. In these eateries, you could select from a wide variety of dishes from local creole and international cuisine to fast food. But be forewarded, many are closed early at night owing to the scanty number of visitors. |
Terre-de-Haut
This busy hub has plenty of restaurants that specialize in seafood and offer affordable menus. One of the most popular desserts here, is the tourment d’amour coconut sweet. Homemade coconut rum punches are also highly recommended, particularly in the little bar on the right of the gendarmerie in front of the jetty. Also their beer prices are the lowest.
Le Mouillage Restaurant
A joint dishing out excellent creole preparations, Le Mouillage Restaurant is a cut above the rest because of its lovely ambience and great views.

This is essentially a pizza house located on the water’s edge by harbour square. Also, it does takeaways.

La Saladerie
La Saladerie is situated at top of steps on road to Fort Napoleón. It is very popular amongst locals but is not always open during out-of-season months.

Galerie de la Baie
This restaurant is on the first floor of the hotel and is special owing to the spectacular views of the harbour. It is quite famous for its snacks and very expensive ice cream.
The boulangerie next to the Mairie is open from 0530. The supermarkets within the precincts are expensive and sell at double French prices. There are a couple of markets every morning on the road towards the post office from where you can purchase fresh produce.
This eatery serves genteel French cuisine with a Creole touch. Its location by the seaside makes it the perfect venue for parties and get-togethers.
