2: Bávaro Princess
Bavaro Princess Hotel draws some of its architectural inspiration from Bali, and opens onto a 2km-long white-sand private beach. Designed by Spanish-born architect Alvaro Sanz, the hotel retains most of the palms and mangrove clusters on the property and installed freshwater reservoirs, creating a haven for vacationers and many species of birds. 3: Casa de Campo Casa de Campo or the "country house" is the leading resort in the Dominican Republic. In the 1960s, the former Gulf + Western Corporation took a vast hunk of coastal land and carved out this chic resort. Rooms are divided into red-roofed, two-story casitas, each with four units, radiating out from the main building, and more upscale villas that dot the edges of the golf courses, the gardens near the tennis courts, and the shoreline.
