Food & Lodging in St. Vincent

Hotels in St Vincent serve good West Indian cuisine. Specialties include red snapper, kingfish, lamb (conch), calico soup, souse (a sauce made from pigs' trotters) and sea-moss drink. Plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and other seafood are also widely available, however lobster is available in season only. Local exotic fruit juices and Vincentian beer and rum, a major ingredient in punch and cocktails, are the local drinks. The national dish is fried jackfish and breadfruit. The island’s rum is called Captain Bligh, and the local beers are Hairoun and EKU.

Accommodations in St Vincent & the Grenadines offer something for every taste and budget, from economical to elegant and exclusive. Lodgings range from cottages on the beach, historic country hotel in the mountains, to luxury resort with on a private island. All rooms are subject to a 7% hotel tax.
