As New Zealand lies in the Southern Hemisphere, the average temperature decreases as you travelnzc-4 South. The North of New Zealand is subtropical and the South temperate. The warmest months are December, January and February, and the coldest June, July and August. In summer, the average maximum temperature ranges between 20 – 300C and in winter between 10 – 150C. New Zealand on occasions becomes a victim of a tropical cyclone once in every eight to nine years. Cyclone Bola was one of the costliest cyclones in the history of New Zealand, causing severe damage in 1988.
