Geographical facts about Umm al-Quwain

Umm al-Quwain translates to become ‘mother of two powers’ and is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates and is located on the north of the country between Ras Al-Khaimah and Ajman. Ajman, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al-Khaimah are the neighbouring states. The area stretches to 750 square kilometers. It is the smallest of the UAE edging the Arabian Gulf seashore. Umm al-Quwain is the least populated in the UAE with a population of around 65,000. Umm Al Quwain terrain 


Umm al-Quwain has a pleasant weather and November to March is ideal time to visit. The maximum daytime temperature is 26 degrees Celsius and the nights are around 15 degrees Celsius. March to October is the hottest months of the year reaching 40 degrees Celsius. Humidity is high and rainfall is sparse.

The infrastructure of Umm al-Quwain is developing at a rapid pace with the immergence of news roads, parks, buildings and other world class amenities, giving a boost to economy and tourism. Umm al-Quwain touches the main trade routes linking Asia and India.

This small and sweet emirate sits amidst natural beauty and manmade attractions in the Persian Gulf, with bountiful lush greenery, sand dunes on the interior, fertile lands of Falaj Al Moalla, a prolific oasis and coastal mangroves. Travelling here is affordable and convenient. Long stretch of beach, trained horses meant for ride in stables and alluring lagoon are the key attractions of the place. Seneyah Island is located at few kilometers distance from the place and is the abode of exotic Al Qaram trees, deers and birds. Al Dur Island located close by is a popular archaeological site. There have been many resorts mushrooming in Umm al-Quwain, serving with utmost hospitality the tourists who visit.

Umm al-Quwain doesn’t harbor an airport and there is no bus service, so taxi is the main mode of travelling here and connects Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al-Khaimah by road.
