Arrivals & Customs
There are 23 airports in Puerto Rico, but most of them are regional. International flights arrive at Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport outside San Juan. US citizens do not need a visa to enter Puerto Rico. All other countries follow immigration rules set by the US government.
Clothing
Light cotton is suitable for the tropical climate. Beachwear is acceptable at the beach and hotel pools. Elsewhere tourists must be dressed appropriately. Nudity is illegal on the island. Some restaurants and casinos require formal wear for evening, but generally night time entertainment is informal. A light sweater may be needed for evenings in the mountains.
Currency
The official currency is US Dollar, which is commonly referred to as Peso on the island. All major credit cards are accepted widely. ATMs and US and international banks can also be found in all major cities. Banking hours are 9:30 to 3:30 weekdays.
Shopping
Shops are open are from 8 to 6pm on Saturday and from Monday to Thursday with extended timings on Friday. Most shopping malls and retail outlets in large cities are open on evenings and Sundays as well. Large department store and US retail chains can be found in San Juan shopping malls.
