Foreign exchange facilities are available at the International Airport on a 24-hour basis throughout the year. A number of automated foreign exchange machines can be found in the more popular tourist areas along with the automated teller machines [ATM]. Money can be exchanged at banks, bureaux de change, some hotels, and larger shops and restaurants. Automated foreign exchange machines and cash dispensers are available at various locations on the islands. Credit cards are widely accepted on the islands. MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Visa are all accepted. Travellers Cheques are exchanged in the normal authorized institutions.

The major banks in Malta are Bank of Valletta and Mid Med Bank. They have branches in most of the towns and villages of Malta and Gozo. They offer a wide range of services including non-resident offshore account facilities. Foreign exchange facilities are also widely available.
Climate
The Maltese Islands enjoy a healthy climate, with mild winters and a hot summer season. The islands are free of any cold winds, snow, frost and fog. Rain falls between September and April. The temperature ranges from 57.5 degrees Fahrenheit in winter that lasts from November to April, and 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer season from May to October. The hottest time lasts from mid-July through mid-September. The islands seldom get too hot, as the regular cool sea breezes keep the days and nights cool.
Health Tips
Persons receiving medical treatment, and those who may need to carry medicines into Malta or purchase fresh supplies, are advised to carry a letter of introduction from their family doctor. British nationals visiting Malta are entitled to free medical and hospital care.
Tap water is safe to drink. Milk is pasteurised and available daily in cartons and bottles. All dairy products are safe for consumption.
Hospitals/Doctors
Malta has a high standard of medical care. Medical facilities adhere to modern standards and are available through the regional health centres and two general hospitals here.
There are also special clinics for diabetics.
Chemists stock a wide range of pharmaceutical products and drugs are easily available throughout the islands. Working hours for the pharmacies are usually the normal shopping hours. On Sundays, chemists are open from 9 until 12.30 in Malta and from 07.30 until 11 in Gozo.
