Getting to Belize and Getting around

Getting to Belize by road

If you prefer to travel by road, then of course you go through Mexico. The trip is approximately 1360 miles. Mexican bus services can get you from U.S border cities to the city of Chetumal which borders Belize.

There you can hop on board one of the several Belizean bus services that connect Belize to Mexico and enjoy the scenic route into Belize.

Getting to Belize by sea

Several Cruise Lines frequent Belize on their journey through the Caribbean. This is probably the most relaxing way to reach Belize and can provide an unforgettable journey through the earth's most pristine waters.

Getting around

Belize is a relatively small country packed with amazing sites and activities. If you won't be here for long, you probably want to travel by air. Our domestic airlines provide extensive coverage allowing you to get around the numerous destinations Belize has to offer.

Domestic airlines in Belize

Belize's domestic airlines provide a fast reliable service throughout Belize, with terminals in all major local destinations and districts. So if you're here for a short time you may want to hop onboard a domestic flight and enjoy the splendid view of Belize from up above similarly to that of Charles Lindberg when he made his historic flight and landing into Belize.

Belize by boat

The beauty of having the longest barrier reef in the western hemisphere is that it provides endless options for cruising by boat.

Belize has a well developed marine travel service which provides speedy and efficient service to the beautiful islands of San Pedro Ambergris caye and Caye Caulker.

These islands are usually the gateway to Belize's marine wonderland. Once there, you can choose from a wide range of boating activities.

Auto Rental and/or Self Drive

Being that Belize is relatively small country, it's pretty easy to drive yourself around.

There is an abundance of auto rental services in Belize to choose from and are available at the international airport as well as most domestic terminals.

Public Transportation

Perhaps the most common and least expensive method of getting around Belize, at least for the locals is via the many bus services that operate within Belize. Reservation is usually not required but is recommended especially around local public and bank holidays.
