The traffic to Austria has increased remarkably over the years. Austria is well connected with several countries through number of airlines. It is well linked with European countries through railways.
By Air
Vienna is Austria’s main air transport hub. However, there are international airports at Linz, Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt. Besides the national carrier, Austrian Airlines, there are several airlines flying to Austria. Some of the airlines are the British Airways, Lufthansa and American Airlines.
By Train
Austria has excellent rail connections to all major European destinations. They are probably the most comfortable and environmentally responsible way to travel overland.
By Bus
Because of the excellence of rail service from all parts of the continent into both Salzburg and Vienna, bus transit into Austria is not especially popular. Although they are cheaper, yet they are not so comfortable and much slower.
By Car
If you are traveling from continental Europe and do not want to fly, there are several other options for getting to Austria. It is faster to travel on the motorways passing through Frankfurt, Cologne and Passau in Germany and Linz in Austria. One of the prime roads leading into Austria is the Autobahn from Munich via Salzburg to Vienna. From Switzerland, the main arteries are via Feldkirch to Innsbruck or from Basel via Karlsruhe to Munich and then on that busy Autobahn to either Salzburg or Vienna.
