Getting around Fiji

The two international airports in the island Nadi and Nausori, served by major airlines of the world connecting the important cities of USA, Great Britain, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada and Korea.

The national airline Air Pacific, Air New Zealand & Qantas Airways connect Fiji with the rest of the world. The flight times to Fiji from Melbourne are 4 hrs 30 min, Sydney is 3 hrs 50 min, Tokyo is 8 hrs 30 min and London is 21 hrs 30 minutes.

Getting around Fiji is easy by air with most places served by Airport or Airstrip. The domestic airlines Air Fiji, Sunflower, Turtle Airways and Air Wakaya are available to go around the islands.

Driving is on the left side of the road. International permits are valid for six months. Maximum speed in the built up areas is 50 km/hr and in the highways it is 80 km/hr.

Buses and Taxis

Modern, air-conditioned coaches are available serving the resorts and major towns. Buses are the most common mode of transportation in the islands and the open-windowed buses attract the visitors. In case of rain the canvas flaps are unfurled. Vans and multi passenger trucks service less traveled areas. Taxis are available with reasonable fares. For FJ$ 2 you can reach anywhere in the city or town. Metered taxis are available in the urban areas.
