Public Transport
Dubai has a well-connected network of public transport that is convenient besides being economical to travel. The air-conditioned local buses run from the Deira and the Bur Dubai Bus Stations. Taufeer, the monthly bus pass, makes travel more economical. Regular buses are available from Dubai International Airport. Dubai transport Corporation runs air-conditioned buses to Sharjah, Hatta, Al Khawaneej and Al Awir.
Water Transport
Small motor boats known as Abras run across the Dubai creek daily from early morning until around midnight and charges 50 fils per journey.
Taxi
Air-conditioned taxis are easily available on the street or pre-booked by telephone. The Dubai Transport Corporation operates metered taxis and is safe for even a lonely lady traveler. The drivers are very polite and well mannered and occasionally might not have detailed knowledge of the city and ask the passengers for directions. One can hire taxis without the fear of being cheated by the driver because they have computerized meters. The meter of the taxis in the city start at Dh3.00 while at airport, they start at Dh20.
Car Hire

A valid International Driving Permit, passport and credit card are required for one to hire a car in Dubai. Visitors from many European, North American and many Asian countries can obtain a temporary local driving license if they do not have an international license. A valid national license, passport and two passport-size photographs are required in order to do this. |

Fully comprehensive insurance is essential. In the event of an accident, the police must be informed and a written police report obtained, otherwise the hire company’s insurance might not cover any damage. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and have held a full license for one year. The age limit is often raised to 25 years, for more expensive models. The payment must be made by credit card.</
