Car rentals in Vanuatu

All major car rental companies have offices in Vanuatu. Avis can be found at Baurfield International Airport and Le Meridien Resort, open from 7:30am to 5:00pm seven days a week. A delivery charge of VT300 applies for all pickups and deliveries to all areas except the airport (applies to rentals of less than three days). Budget, Discount and Hertz offer alternative options.

If paying in cash, a cash deposit will be required. American Express, Visa and Mastercard are accepted. There is a minimum 1 day (24hr) rental and an hourly rate of 1/5th the day rate applies after that. Each car is supplied with a full tank of petrol and has to be returned the same way.

Also, if you intend to travel all the way around the island you should hire a 4WD and Budget is the only one who has a selection. Conventional cars shouldn't attempt the round island trip. While it takes 3 to 4 hours to drive around the island from Port Vila, at least a full day should be set aside or perhaps an overnight stay at Nagar, Beachcomber or Blue Waters. Don't include Cascades Waterfalls or Hideaway Island as part of the round island trip as they require 2 to 3 hours each and should be allocated their own day or days.
