Telephones
Most hotels in Antigua and Barbuda offer USA direct calling service. You can connect with a US operator for calling home.
Electricity
Both voltages are available in the hotels. Part of the island is 110 volts and remainder is 220 volts.
Tipping
Some restaurants and hotels will automatically add a 10% gratuity. Porters will accept 50 cents per bag and taxi drivers 10 to 15% of the fare.

Attire
Beach attire is appropriate for the town but not for shops and restaurants. Some hotels and restaurants stipulate jacket and tie for men and dresses for women in the evening.

The time is the same as Eastern Daylight.
Currency
East Caribbean Dollar. This is fixed to the US dollar. The recent exchange rate was
US$1.00 = EC$2.65. US currency, travelers’ checks and major credit cards are accepted.

3:00pm to 5:00pm
Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm

Medical facilities
There are several general practitioners and specialists on the island, a hospital and a private clinic. Pharmaceutical services are widely available.
Shops are opened from 8:00am to noon and 1:00pm-5:00pm. As far as personal safety is concerned Antigua/Barbuda is a relatively crime free country.
