Passports
Valid passports required by all nationals of Britain, USA, Canada, Australia and EU nations. However exceptions are made in the cases of USA, Canada and Britain citizens, who can present driver's license or official ID card as proof of citizenship.
Visas
Not required by nationals of countries referred above. Other nationalities are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements.
Return tickets
All passengers must hold a return or onward ticket to a country to which they have a legal right of entry and sufficient funds to cover the period of their stay. Passengers not in possession of a return or onward ticket may be required to leave a deposit on arrival. Passengers not complying with any of the entry regulations listed above may be deported.
Warning
Most visits to Montserrat are completely trouble-free. The crime rate is very low but visitors should take essential precautions against petty crime.
The Soufriere Hills Volcano remains extremely active in Montserrat. The Alert Level is at Level 3 (Level 5 is the highest). Continued volcanic activity over the last decade has resulted in a major part of the island designated as a total Exclusion Zone (EZ) where no entry is permitted. Maps showing the designated zones are available at points of entry and at local police stations.
Entry to those areas south of the Belham Valley that made up the former Day Time Entry Zone (DTEZ) is permitted. A very real danger of mudflows exists and extreme caution should be taken if crossing the Belham Valley. As a safety precaution, travelers should register at the Salem Police Station before crossing the Belham Valley.
The Montserrat authorities have advised people not to go south of Belham for their own safety.
The Daily Time Entry Zone around St George's Hill has been closed because of this increased volcanic activity.
The hurricane season in Montserrat normally runs from June to November.

Health Care
There is a well-equipped 30-bed hospital, providing 24-hour casualty service. Montserrat is a UK Dependency and a limited reciprocal health agreement exists with the UK. On presentation of proof of UK residence, free treatment is available at the general hospital and at state-run clinics to those aged over 60 and under 16. Dental treatment is also free for school-age children. Private health insurance is recommended. For specialist treatment, visitors are required to travel to neighboring islands (eg Antigua or Guadeloupe).
Check
Following WHO guidelines issued in 1973, a cholera vaccination certificate is not normally a requirement of entry to any country. However, Montserratian authorities may require one from travelers arriving from infected areas.
