Entry requirements for Mauritius

Entry requirements

A valid passport and return ticket (or open tickets) are required by all. Visas are required by all except Mauritian citizens, persons having the status of resident as per the "Immigration Act", holders of diplomatic passport except those issued by the government of Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Lybia and Sudan, crew of a ship traveling for business or in transit to join another ship, holders of a pass issued by the UN or other recognized international organizations,


persons wishing to stay in Mauritius only for a period of stop over of the ship on board of which they came or will leave, any other person whose stay has been approved by the office of the Prime minister and holders of passport from various Asian, European Union, Slovakian, and African countries.

Duty Free
The exempted materials from any import duty in Mauritius include used clothes and personal stuff and other articles already used that is required for the stay, 250 cigarettes or 50 cigares or 250 grammes of tobacco, 1 liter of spirits and 2 liters of wine or beer and 25 cl of perfume.


Forex

The currency of Mauritius is the Mauritian Rupee available in the denomination one rupee, 5, 10 rupees as well as 20 and 50 cents for coins, and 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 rupees for notes. However there is no restriction on import of foreign currency in the form of bank drafts, letter of credit, and traveler’s cheque.
