Entry and visa requirements for Bahrain

Foreign nationals may enter Bahrain with a tourist visa, which is available for individuals or groups. The visa can be of many types, viz. 72-hour visa, 7-day visa, visit visa, business visa, family visa, dependent visa or an employment visa. Tourists are not allowed to take up any employment while in Bahrain.


Passport requirements

Valid passport for at least six months from date of departure required by all except the following:

  • Nationals of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates holding a valid national ID card
  • Holders of Israeli passports have restricted entry

Visa requirements

Required by all except the following:

  • Nationals of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates
  • Transit passengers continuing their journey by the first connecting flight, provided they have confirmed tickets and appropriate travel documents and remaining within the transit area
  • Nationals of EU countries (except Nationals of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia), Andorra, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong, Iceland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, San Marino, Singapore, Switzerland, USA and the Vatican City may obtain visas on arrival for tourist or business stays of up to two weeks

Types of visa and cost

Tourist visa: It is issued for two-week and for single-entry use for the fees of BHD 5. However, it can be renewed for two further weeks once in Bahrain at the General Directorate of Immigration and Passports in Manama.

Business: It is issued four-week and for multiple-entry for the fees of BHD 42. However, it is issued to British, Canadian and US nationals.

 

Validity
Tourist visa is valid for three months from date of issue while the business visa is valid for five years.

 

Application requirements for tourist visa

(a) Valid passport

(b) One passport-size photo

(c) One completed application form

(d) One registered, self-addressed envelope and cheque for 3 to cover return of passport if applying by post

(e) Fee, payable in cash or by company cheques only

(f) Letter stating the purpose and duration of the visit and the applicant's responsibility for all travel expenses

(g)Letter from the company stating the purpose and duration of the visit and the applicant's responsibility for all travel expenses (for Business Visa only)
