Getting to China

terminal2Flying is by far one of the most popular and convenient ways to get to China and to participate and merge in the spirit of 2008 Olympics. Three new subway lines, with a total length of 58km, will be and open in time to serve visitors and local Beijingers for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.

As an important subway line connecting the north and the east of Beijing, the Phase I Project of Subway Line 10 is 25km long with 22 stops, and includes six interchange stops.

The Olympic Extension is 4.5km long in total with 4 stops. The Airport Line is 28km long with 4 stations stretching from Dong Zhimen to the Airport. These three lines have the following features and characteristics:

First, all three lines serve for the Olympic Games in Beijing. For Olympic Extension, Beituchenglu Station is connected to the Olympic Green and the Olympic Central Zone. The Airport Express Line is from Dongzhimen to the Airport. Visitors or airport travelers can take the Airport Express Line directly to the urban area or downtown area of Beijing.

Phase I of Line 10 has 3 transfer stations with the Olympic Extension and Airport Express Line, making the transportation for the Olympic Games successful. The Airport Express Line makes it easier for the public transportation in Beijing. Zhongguancun, Yayuncun, Olympic Center zone and the CBD area are connected as a result of the operation of the line. These functional zones are very concentrated in terms of population. Subway Line 10 connects to these functional zones.

Airport Express Line makes alternative transport between the Airport and the downtown area. Especially during the extreme weather conditions, the Airport Express Line can be more important.

Number three, after these lines running into operation, the railway network in Beijing is taking shape. The three new lines are 58km in total, adding the railway system in Beijing to 200km.

By Sea:  Port of call includes Shanghai, Xiamen (opposite Taiwan), Tanggu (near Tianjin), Macau and Hong Kong.
