Colin Powell:

Colin Powell, son of a seamstress and a shipping clerk went to America from Jamaica in 1920. He was nominated by President Bush as the Secretary of State on December 16, 2000. After being unanimously confirmed by the US senate he was sworn in as the 65th Secretary of State on January 20, 2001.

 


General Colin Powell, first Jamaican descendant, black American to occupy one of the most powerful positions in the world. Colin Powell in one of his speeches stresses, "Challenge young people by having high expectations of them; engage them with the opportunity to realize those expectations through constructive, character-building activities."


Naomi Campbell:

Naomi rules the fashion world, that even after seventeen years in the business she continues to make her a media star with international appeal. She is ranked among the top four models of the world. The hot magazine covers adore her with the sophisticated style much true to her.

 


Naomi‘s mother a Jamaican dancer raised her to be poised and graceful. Beside her modeling career, Naomi has written the book Swan and along with other supermodels, created The Fashion Cafe. She's appeared in Vanilla Ice and Michael Jackson videos, the Bill Cosby Show and a number of movies.

Meet the people of Jamaica:

Its befitting that Jamaica is nicknamed a friendly and musical island. The Jamaica Tourist Board has plays matchmaker between visitors and Jamaicans in a very special program called “Meet the people”.

The Jamaican tourist board will introduce the visitors to the Jamaicans who share the same interest as you do. These are the Jamaicans who are eager to share the religious, occupational or leisure interests with the visitors. This program is carried on by the Jamaican tourist Board for the past two decades and more.

The board arranges for children to meet the Jamaican children as well. Children can meet and exchange their ideas with each other paving a right path for healthier relationship among the citizens of the world in the future. And the most fascinating part is that it demands no cost! So what prevents? When you are planning for a trip to Jamaica, don’t forget the meet the Jamaicans waiting to meet and greet you!
