Gambling options in Jamaica

Casinos in Jamaica:

Visitors to Jamaica can find activities to suit any interest, and for those who have dreams of the glitz, glamour and neon of Las Vegas—as well as the beautiful islands of the tropics—Jamaica's casinos can offer the best of both these worlds.

Even for the casual visitor, gambling in the island's casinos can add a little spice to any vacation. Most Jamaican casinos are part of resort hotels, which means nearly all Jamaican casinos are located in popular tourist areas of the island.

Popular casinos include:

 *Coral Cliff Hotel (Montego Bay)

 *Hedonism II Resort (Negril)

 *Hedonism III Resort (Ocho Rios)

*Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort (Montego Bay)

*The Jamaica Pegasus and Derby Rooms (Kingston)

 *Jungle Negril (Negril)

*Renaissance Jamaica Grande Resort (Ocho Rios)

*Terra Nova Hotel—Monte Carlo Gaming (Kingston)

*Treasure Hunt Ocho Rios (Ocho Rios)

Slots make up the majority of floor games, but video poker, blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, craps, and roulette are also available. Familiar and widespread in the region due to its origin in Aruba, Caribbean Stud Poker is played by many of the same rules as regular poker but has one big difference. The players, instead of playing against each other, play against the dealer only. Another small difference is that all of the players can see one of the dealer’s cards, which he deals face up. With this information, players are free to make bets. This type of poker is extremely popular both in Jamaica and on cruise ships.

When you plan your trip to Jamaica, you may want to remember a little extra spending money. Whether just for an afternoon activity or a night out, casinos in Jamaica are not to be missed.

Horse Racing in Jamaica

The history of horse racing in Jamaica goes back to the early 19th century. The only horse racing track in Jamaica is the Caymanas Park in Kingston. Now there are a number of smaller tracks found all around the island.

The Caymanas park race track attracts more than 12,500 people for the race. Off track betting in Jamaica is the reason behind the success of these races. During the heyday of Jamaica’s reggae, songs were written on racehorses. The popular horse Long Shot died during a race which inspired the hit song’ Long Shot Kicked the Bucket’.
