St.
Kitts and Nevis is an English speaking state in the Caribbean and is a
member of the British Commonwealth. The Federation is a part of the Leeward
Islands group lying about 200 miles southeast of Puerto Rico and to the
north of the Windward group. It is a beautiful country considered to be
a tax haven by the tax professionals worldwide. The 1983 Constitution
provides St. Kitts and Nevis with a Parliament headed officially by Queen
Elizabeth II, who is represented there by a governor-general. The House
of Assembly has 14 members.

St. Kitts and Nevis is a beneficiary of the Caribbean Basin Initiative, CARIBCAN, and Lom@ agreements qualifying it for trade concessions with the United States, Canada, and the European Union. The Federation is also a member of GATT and WTO. |

Citizenship
of St. Kitts and Nevis is governed by Chapter VI I I (Sections 90-95)
of the Constitution of St. Kitts and Nevis.

In 1984 in pursuance of section 920(h) Parliament prescribed such other persons who would be entitled upon making application to be registered as citizen. Accordingly, section 3(5) of the Saint Christopher and Nevis Citizenship Act, 1984 (No. I of 1984) provides as follows. |
|
|
(5) Subject to subsections (8) and (9) of this section, a person is entitled, upon making application under this subsection to the Minister in the prescribed manner and upon payment of a fee that may be prescribed to be registered as a citizen of St. Christopher and Nevis." |

Foreign individuals can obtain citizenship under sub-section (5) of Section 3 of the Citizenship Act 1984 which stipulates that a person is entitled, upon making application to the Minister in the prescribed manner and upon payment of any fee that may be prescribed, to be registered as a citizen of the Federation without any rights of voting save under and in accordance with the provisions of any law governing the qualification of voters, if Cabinet is satisfied that such person has invested substantially in the Federation. |

The minimum investment requirement may be satisfied in any of the following ways - |

| The registration fees currently in force are the XCD equivalents of - | |

Each
citizenship certificate of registration is USD 47 and the cost for each
passport is USD 13.
|
|
|
The appropriate citizenship registration fees must be paid to Government at the time of making the application. Funds for the payment of the required investment must be deposited by the applicant with a bank in St. Kitts. If the application is accepted, then the bank will be requested to release the funds to pay for the required investment. If the application is not accepted, the fees paid to the Government and the funds for the payment of the required investment will be returned to the unsuccessful applicant. |

All
monies payable to Government will be paid into an escrow account designated
by the Government pending approval of each application.
