Nightlife in China

There's a huge range of nightlife options in China specially in Beijing and Shanghai. At night the a few downtown areas become frenetic, pulsating, lively places for the tourists as well as locals. There are many Western-style expat pubs, cocktail lounges, night clubs and bars, cafes, huge super-clubs, street-side cheap drinks and many more options exists. There are many areas where you can hop between many close-by pubs, which will typically feature live music and lots of whisky.

In comparison to Shanghai, Beijing's nightlife is not so rocking. Perhaps because of the city's huge population and the government's liberalization many places rock till the early hours. The Sanlitun area is still a pretty busy nightlife centre, despite Beijing's determination to tear everything down and build anew. Sanlitun Central seems to be dominated by shopping malls but if you look closer opposite the Great Dragon Hotel you'll find some of the most popular bars and discos in Beijing.  In Beijing you will get China Doll Club an unofficial home for international dance music. Hot, sweaty and loud beats and spread out over three floors, this is the most happening place to see and be seen in Beijing.

Night life in Shanghai is rocking and colorful because life here is much more than life itself. Both classical and modern buildings take on a new and exciting look as they are lit up by an abundance of colored lights. Walking westward along Nanjing East Road, you will quickly reach the famous Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, the merrily illuminated shops are a thrilling milieu to the cheerful masses that come to enjoy the carefree atmosphere of the night and to pick up their favourite items with a good bargain. It is the best area to hangout.

For the first time visitors to Shanghai it is much safer to go Xin Tian Di for the night life. Xin Tian Di, the most fashionable area cultivated in the distinctive Shikumen Buildings, the architectural styles of both west and east from the 1920s and 1930s Shanghai around South Huangpi Road and Xingye Road.

ARK Live House is one of the most popular and well maintained music restaurant and music bar in Shanghai. Maoming South Road, an upwardly mobile bar street is the place where the foreign guests like to stay. One more highlight of nightlife in shanghai is the Portman Acrobatic Show, which will surely bring you a memorable experience.
