Dominica offers numerous avenues to view these huge mammals in their natural habitat. 6 types of whites and 12 types of dolphins have been identified off the Coast of Dominica. |

The main species are Sperm Whales and Humpbacks, which are frequently observed in the deep depth off the warm West Coast. Also seen occasionally are the Killer Orca Whale, the Beaked Pigmy Sperm Whale and Fraser Dolphins. |

The peak seasons for whale watching are from November to June. The main site is 2-10 miles offshore along the West Coast, i.e. between Scotts Head and Salisbury, its home to Sperm Whales for social interaction. |

Spinner and Spotted Dolphins guide the way of the boat to the whale-watching site. The Spinner Dolphins are more easily spotted along the Soufriere Bay and Scotts Head. Many tour operators and Hotels arrange whale watching at US$ 40-50 for four hours trip.
Tips- Always carry binoculars, polarizing filters and telephoto lens.
