Getting Married in Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a Mediterranean haven an ideal place for an exquisite wedding. Today hundreds of couples are traveling to Gibraltar to exchange vows. Many famous celebrities like Sean Connery and John Lennon have also gotten married on the famous Rock of Gibraltar.

Getting married in Gibraltar is not very difficult either. There are no residency restrictions and in theory you can get married with just 24 hours notice.

You will need your birth certificate, passport and if you’ve been married before, a copy of your divorce decree absolute. The registrar will only accept originals, not photocopies. Recent legislation permits the marriage registrar to marry couples outside the registry office, if requested. Four of Gibraltar’s hotels have been registered as places where marriages can be held. In addition, you are able to choose from an historical building or perhaps prefer natural settings, these include, “The Mount” and The Alameda Gardens.
