Dubai International Jazz Festival sets an unforgettable opportunity to appreciate and melt in mesmerizing music by veteran artists. It has grown and became an annual entertainment icon in the UAE and the whole region, drawing fans from all across the UAE, GCC and around the world. Attendance in 2006 topped 21,500, and 25,000 in 2007 and 28,000 music lovers for the 2008 edition throughout 10 days.
2009 edition of Dubai International Jazz Festival will run from 18 - 27 Feb at Dubai Media City. Each year, the Festival presents more than 120 artists featuring a diverse and international lineup of legendary Grammy award-winning artists and critically acclaimed jazz and contemporary groups. Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival showcases an incredibly diverse array of music styles to gratify the different tastes of large audiences, featuring 12 internationally recognized recording artists and legends of Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, reggae, ethnic, gospel and Latin Music over a period of three consecutive nights.
Highlights include Courtney Pine, Boney James and Robin Gibb. Past editions have featured artists including Robin McKelle, Jamie Cullum, Freddy Cole and Dee Dee Bridgewater. There are also jamming sessions, held at nearby venues, along with an arts & crafts village, food and drink.
Since its first edition in 2002, the festival has been held at Dubai Media City, but due to increasing popularity changed to a larger venue in 2008, at Radisson SAS Hotel and Dubai Festival City with mega concerts at Dubai Media City Amphitheater running the last three days.
