Nauru people are quite warm and fun loving. Therefore Nauru Festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm. During these festivals people come together to share their joy and sorrow. These festivals unite the people of Nauru. Nauru festivals are celebrated to observe various occasions at different point of the year.

Nauru Festivals make the cities and the villages colorful. Various delicious cuisines are made during these celebrations. Since Nauru people are great artists' songs and dances are performed during the festivals. Practice of poetry is also quite popular. Gathering at one place is the main objective of the festivals.

The most important festival of Nauru is its independence day. It is celebrated on 31st January. The people celebrate this day with great respect. Flags are hoisted in government buildings and institutes. People show their respect to the freedom fighters. National Anthem is sung.

Another major day that is celebrated is Angam Day. It is celebrated on 27 October. When the population level passed 1,500 the people of Nauru celebrated this day because1, 500 was considered to be the minimum number needed to survive.

Since most of the population is Christian occasions like Christmas, Easter are celebrated widely. The churches are beautifully decorated. People also decorate their houses and exchange gifts. Christmas cake of Nauru is quite popular. These are made of coconut and banana. Cinnamon and nutmeg are added to enhance the flavor. The New Year's Day is celebrated with equal enthusiasm. Festivals in Nauru are deeply linked with the life of the people.
